The first phase of the CrossFit Games is the Open competition. 5 workouts over 5 weeks. Starting Feb 28th. Open to anyone in the world. We will be hosting the workouts at MaD CF and suggest you join in on what is a “fun” way to test yourself. All you need to do is register HERE, select MaD CrossFit as your Affiliate and get ready for 5 challenging tests of fitness.

Best reason to sign up so far comes from Amy P.

I have registered too! Before I run out of money… AND because not being registered last year SUCKED!

More reasons to sign up and give it a go are in Sunday Reading, enjoy 🙂

The party we all get to crash

My friend Donna lives in New Zealand, but she’ll be at this party, and the two of us will count the days until the first workout and we’ll trash talk over the miles, just like we do every year. My friend Kathrine in Connecticut will write “Beat Darsh” in chalk on the floor in front of her, so when the pain gets really bad and she has her hands on her quads, trying to breathe before she picks up the bar, she sees that … and goes again.

Four Reasons Every CrossFitter Should Participate in the CrossFit Games Open

Reintroducing the idea of physical competition to someone often evokes myriad responses and emotions they probably haven’t felt for awhile. We keep encouraging though, because we know the thrill that waits on the other side of diving into the Open.

One and Done: A Practical Guide to the CrossFit Games Open

Whether this is your first year or your fourth of doing the Open, the main focus is to be level-headed throughout those 5 weeks. For 99% of us, there is no reason to do these workouts more than once. Just look at it as a friendly competition amongst your gymmates, the same as any other workout. The main reason to do the Open, and the main reason we do CrossFit in the first place, is for the community aspect. Getting fitter is great and all, but the people are what keeps us coming back.
