Oly Comp

Today we are hosting 41° Weightlifting Clubs 4th Oly Comp of the year. Two sessions, ladies lift at 10am, men lift at Noon. Come on down and support the lifters on the platform. We have lifters from 3 different CrossFit Gyms and Wellington Weightlifting Association.

On Saturday we host our annual women’s weightlifting comp BaD As V. Check the Event page HERE for details. Everyone is welcome to spectate so plan on stopping by to support the ladies lifting. There is also the option of a CrossFit Charity Workout following the comp, you can still sign up for that by hitting the button below.

The CrossFit charity workout, is for those who want to throw down but didn’t or couldn’t sign up. It will take place immediately following prize giving. It will be challenging, but can be scaled to any level of fitness. You will be asked to make a gold coin donation to participate in the workout, ALL proceeds will go to Wellington SPCA. (Must be over 18)

“Murph”

Michael Patrick Murphy (May 7, 1976 – June 28, 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL lieutenant who was awarded the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. He was also the first member of the U.S. Navy to receive the award since the Vietnam War. His other posthumous awards included the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

The Point: Technique for Olympic Weightlifting

Anyway, the point is this: The purpose of mastering weightlifting technique is to ultimately make the movements so natural that all of a lifter’s focus and energy can be channeled into producing power. That is, the less of a lifter’s resources are directed into ensuring proper mechanical execution of the lifts, the more of those resources can be directed into aggressive, vicious, explosive and decisive activation of the body.
