Sunday Strength Session From 10am to Noon. There will be an Olympic Weightlifting option, a Powerlifting option, as well as a CrossFit workout. You can also use this time as an Open Gym Session, just make sure you have a plan.

 A Closer Look at the 2014 Games Programming

We see this year that there was consistently focus on the Olympic lifts at all phases of the competition, but we saw changes in the other categories.  Pure conditioning (running/rowing/double-unders) increased in value steadily throughout, whereas high skill gymnastics increased dramatically after the Open.  Conversely, basic gymnastics decreased in value steadily and was not much of a factor in the Games.  As is typical, we didn’t see many of the uncommon CrossFit movements until the Games.

Programming for Injury Prevention: How to Keep Your Athletes Healthy

When programming for athletes, your best bet is to keep it simple. A 3×5 or 5×3 block of heavy squats will do immensely more for their core integrity and knee stability than a bunch of exercises on a ball or an Airex pad, particularly if you choose a variation like the front squat or overhead squat.
