The CrossFit Games Open guide for newbies:

The 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games season begins with the online Open. Anyone can sign up to compete in five workouts over five weeks and post their scores online. Last year, the Open reached more than 209,000 athletes from around the world.

Who can join? Any member who signs up and is registered as part of the MaD CrossFit team can participate in the open. Register Here.

This will not count as one of your weekly visits. This is free to all who are registered.

Get out of your comfort zone and see what it feels like to compete.

This year there is a scaled division. A scaled option of the Open workout will be released each week of the Open. With reduced loading or less challenging movements, the scaled option will be designed to make the Open even more accessible.

When?

15.1: Feb. 27 -March 3
15.2: March 6-10
15.3: March 13-17
15.4: March 20-24
15.5: March 27-31

The dates are a bit different due to the time zone difference. Sunday March 15th the Open will begin after the 41 Degrees weightlifting competition at 2pm.

MaD will be running Open workouts on Friday after the live announcement at 2pm, Saturday 10am and Sunday 10am.

Since we don’t know what the workout will be until Friday, we plan on running them in heats on the weekends between 10-12. There will be a warm up, standard briefing, and you may be asked to judge (rep count and make sure they keep to standards).

What next?

-Register at the CrossFit Games site

-Sign up as usual on Influx (Friday 2pm, Sat 10am or Sunday 10am)

Can’t make a designated time?

If you can make most weeks, but have can’t make one due to work or travel, pair up with someone during open gym or outside of class time and you can make it up then. Just email matt@madcrossfit and let us know.
