‘24 Min Partner AMRAP’
30 Burpee
Overhead barbell hold 50/35/25kg
One person must be holding the bar overhead for burpees to count*
30 Front squat
Pull up bar hang
One person must be hanging from pull up bar for front squats to count*
*Partners must swap if the ‘hold’ person stops.
Run 200m with 3 x slam ball/med ball per team (must take heaviest available)


Both teams are at home this week, come in and lend them some support.



Samara Wright has been working hard this year, culminating in her representing New Zealand at the Commonwealth and Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast in September. In order for her to continue on her weightlifting journey we are raising funds to allow her to compete on both the national and international platforms.

Samara’s Weightlifting Journey

With the help of the funds raised last year Samara has had a busy year getting as much competition experience as she could.

Training 5 days a week she has dedicated herself to following her passion for Olympic Weightlifting.

Samara attended the Oceania Weightlifting Federation Talent Identification Program Training Camp in New Caledonia in December last year.

She took part in the Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand Club Champions League over 5 months from February to June and was the top overall youth lifter for that competition.

She competed in the Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand North Island Championships in Auckland in June.

She also competed in the Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand National Secondary Schools Championships in August. She came 1st in the Over 15 63kg Division.

She represented New Zealand at the Commonwealth and Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast in September. She came 3rd in the Oceania Youth 63kg Division.

She competed at the Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand Junior and Senior National Championships in Dunedin in October.

She is currently ranked 3rd for most improved female lifter in New Zealand for 2017. Her Youth ranking is 1st for 63kg and 2nd for 58kg categories. Her Junior ranking is 2nd for both 63kg and 58kg categories.

2018 will bring more of the same, we are waiting for the international calendar to be finalised to know what competition’s she will target but she will continue to lift nationally aiming to lead both Youth and Junior rankings in the 63kg category.

Free Intro Workout

Our Free Intro Group Class is designed to suit any level of fitness  and is interested in learning more about our program.  You can come in with an existing member or book in with us before the day. In this session we start with a warm up and take you through a group class at MaD Strength & Conditioning.  We coach you through some of the movements so you get a feel for how we teach, and take you through a partner or team workout.  Afterwards we’ll cool down, talk about what we do in a regular class and what the next step is to join.

Although ‘Bring a Friend’ is not our typical Monday – Friday class, you’ll get a feel for the way things run.

Next dates: Thursday December 7th at 6:30pm, Saturday December 9th at 9am.

Free class for all, does not count as one of your weekly visits.
