ANZAC DAY – April 25

After your dawn service, come and join us at 9am for a Hero workout or at 10am for Open Gym. The workout can be scaled for all and is also able to be done as a team. Lest we forget.


For time:
800-meter single-arm DB farmers carry, 20/15kg.
31 toes-to-bars
31 push-ups
31 front squats, 42.5/30kg.
400-meter single-arm barbell farmers carry, 42.5/30kg.
31 toes-to-bars
31 push-ups
31 hang power cleans, 60/42.5kg.
200-meter single-arm barbell farmers carry, 60/42.5kg.

Cpl. Luke Tamatea, 31, of Kawerau, New Zealand, was killed by a roadside bomb on Aug. 19, 2012, while serving with the New Zealand Defence Force in the Bamyan Province of Afghanistan. Tamatea was posted to 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment and was serving his second tour in Afghanistan at the time of his death.

He was an avid CrossFit athlete and enjoyed body-weight exercises and practicing farmers carries over long distances in preparation for Special Forces selection.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Erb; and children, Kyla, Kaytlen, Nikita and Keira.

  • 5.45am: Parade assembles outside the Civic Centre, Laings Road, Lower Hutt
  • 6am: Dawn Service held at the Cenotaph, adjacent to the Lower Hutt Memorial Library, Riddiford Garden, Anzac Lawn

Petone Services and Bracken Street Parade

  • 7am: Flag ceremony held at the Anzac Memorial Flagstaff, Petone Railway Station
  • 8.15am: Parade assembles in Bracken Street
  • 8.30am:  Service held at the Garden of Remembrance, Memorial Park
