Donny Butters
I played representative Australian rules football from 1994 to 1998 culminating playing for the Calder Cannons while in High School. I continued to play for fun until I left Australia in 2003.
During my service in the Australian Army, from 1998 to 2002, I was deployed in East Timor during their unrest from April to October 2000. After leaving the army in 2002 I completed a degree in graphic design. I moved to New Zealand and trained as a firefighter. I am currently employed as a professional fire fighter at the Brooklyn Station, Wellington.
Because of my occupation fitness has been a strong part of my life. Since 2008, I have been competing in the Firefighter Combat Challenge and represented teamblackfire.com in the 2008 and 2009 World Challenge in Las Vegas, NV. I discovered CrossFit in 2008 and took most of my training from the crossfit.com site.
I am currently interning with MaD CrossFit. I attained my Level 1 CrossFit certification in April 2011.
